By Subway
Take the Red line to Central Square. Walk approx. 1 block north
on Massachusetts Ave. Turn left on Pleasant St., at the 7-11. If you
find you’re in front of the Post office, you’ve gone a little too far.
Pandemonium Books is less than 10 seconds from Mass Ave, down Pleasant
St..
By Bus
Take the #1 Massachusetts Ave. bus to Central Square. Heading
South from Harvard Station, the stop is Pleasant St. (in front of the
Central Square Post Office). Heading North from Dudley Station, the stop
is Inman St. (in front of Cambridge City Hall). The 7-11 is visible
from both stops; and Pandemonium is right behind it.
By Car
From North of Boston
Get to I-93 in the best way possible. Take exit 30 (RT-28/RT-38)
to Somerville, and exit on the RT-38 S ramp to Rte 28/Somerville. Turn
left at Mystic Ave, and bear right onto McGrath Hwy. Turn right at
Washington, and travel a very short distance (.2 mi). Turn right at
Somerville , left at Webster Ave., and bear right at Prospect St. Turn
right at Massachusetts Ave (Central Square), and Pleasant St. and
Pandemonium is one block north, on the left side.
From South of Boston
Get on I-93 north, and take exit 26 to Storrow Drive , bearing
onto the ramp to Cambridge/Memorial Dr. Turn right at Cambridge St., and
continue as it becomes Main St and then Broadway. Turn left at Portland
St, and then right back onto Main. Main melds into Massachusetts Ave.
Follow Mass Ave. North. Pleasant St. is one block past Prospect, on the
left.
From West of Boston
Take the Mass Pike to the Brighton/Cambridge exit. Go across the
Charles River into Cambridge and take River Street to Massachusetts
Avenue (River St. ends at this point, and Prospect begins; if you find
you’re on Prospect, you’ve gone too far).
Parking
There is some on-street, metered parking directly in front of
Pandemonium on Pleasant St., and two metered lots nearby (one next to
the store, one at Green and Pleasant St.). These lots can fill solidly,
but do occasionally have parking. There is also metered parking on
Bishop Allen Drive, which runs parallel to Mass Ave. to the east, and
customers report finding available parking.
Public, Less Expensive, a few minutes away
The Green Street Garage is located at the intersection of Green St. and Pearl St. (http://www.cambridgema.gov/traffic/OffStreetParking.cfm). Pandemonium is a 5-7 minute walk up Green St., turning left on Pleasant St. ($1/hr, $10 max, $5 flat night rate).
Private, More Expensive, a few seconds away
There is a pay lot approximately 1/2 block away from the store, behind the Cambridge YMCA (http://www.pilgrimparking.com/facilities/central_sq/index.php).
Follow the driving directions of your choice to Pandemonium, and
continue past it to Green St. Turn right on Green, and the parking lot
is almost immediately to your left ($4/hr, $12 daily, night $4/hr, $7
max).
Private, Free, Limited Hours, a few minutes away
Free parking is available after 6pm on weekdays, and all day on
weekends, in the lot at Prospect St. and Bishop Allen Drive, one block
east of Massachusetts Ave and Prospect St (the heart of Central Square).
After parking, walk west to Mass Ave., and north one block to Pleasant
St.
